O'Sullivan dogs in Ireland

A few short videos of Joe O'Sullivan's dogs out of Gardenfield Kennels in Strand, Co. Limrick, Ireland.  Joe is a long time field trialer in Ireland and has a long history of winning red setters in his kennels. My apologies for the low video quality (taken with my smartphone).

On May 18 2014 The National Red Setter Field Trial Club passed a resolution of support for Dave Hughes for the Field Trial Hall of Fame.  The National Red Setter Field Trial Club recognizes the extraordinary accomplishments of Dave Hughes to the improvement of field trials and to the improvement of quality bird dogs.  His numerous accomplishments certainly qualify him to be honored as a member of the Field Trial Hall of Fame, and the National Red Setter Field Trial Club heartily recommends that Dave Hughes be elected to this prestigious honor.

Long Time Red Setter Icon passes...

Long time red setter breeder, handler, and trainer Ken Ruff of Sycamore Illinois passed away on Jan. 22, 2014 after a long battle with cancer.  Ken and his wife Linda operated a long time and successful line of red setters under the "Brophy Kennels" banner.  Ken was instrumental in promoting the red setter as hunting and field trial dogs, and was especially successful with his line of dogs in the AKC field trial arena.  The National Red Setter Field Trial Club, the Board of Directors, and the membership of the club offer our condolences to Linda and the Ruff family.  Funeral arrangements are being worked out and will be posted as they become available.  Rest in peace, and may you have great hunting and trialing in your new place with the angels.
